Located in Pahang, Malaysia, Genting is a popular resort city situated on Mount Ulu Yam, about 50 kilometers northeast of Kuala Lumpur. History
Genting’s development began in the early 1960s when Malaysian businessman Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong started building a hill resort on Mount Ulu Yam. The first phase of construction included the development of the Awana Hotel and several villas, which were designed to cater to high-end tourists looking for an exclusive getaway.
During this period, Genting also became famous as a hub for casinos and gaming activities. In 1965, Lim Goh Tong opened the casino doors at the Resorts World Genting (previously known as Resorts World Malaysia), marking the beginning of Las Vegas-style entertainment in Southeast Asia. Over time, more resorts and attractions were built to cater to families with children.
